  1. How does free gift wrap work?

    Free gift wrap is one of the great services provided by a quality neighborhood toy store.  Customers in our Summit store absolutely love it.  And since ToyProfessor.com is truly your neighborhood toy store online, we offer it to our online customers as well.

    We hope you appreciate it because it is extremely rare to find this service online at no charge.

    If you want an item gift wrapped simply click the gift wrap box for that item on your final order summary page.

    In some rare cases due to odd shapes (e.g., hula hoops) or because the shipping box and product package are one and the same (e.g., large wood kitchens) we are unable to gift wrap.  In these cases the option will simply not appear for the item.

  3. How do we calculate shipping charges?

    Free Shipping is provided for all orders of $199 or more
    Shipping surcharges for oversize and very heavy items still apply

    For orders under $199 we apply a formula to approximate shipping charges.  In almost all cases we are still subsidizing actual shipping costs.  We ship only to the 48 contiguous United States.  Shipping charges are based on distance shipped from Summit, NJ and are calculated as follows:
    • $5 or 10% of purchases (whichever is greater) if shipped less than 200 miles
    • $7 or 12% of purchases (whichever is greater) if shipped between 200 miles and 600 miles
    • $8 or 15% of purchases (whichever is greater) if shipped between 600 miles and 1200 miles
    • $9 or 18% of purchases (whichever is greater) if shipped between 1200 miles and 1800 miles
    • $11 or 20% of purchases (whichever is greater) if shipped between 1800 miles and 3000 miles
    • Shipping surcharges for oversize and very heavy items are additional to above

    We hope our customers realize that the value of The Toy Professor is in our toy experts choosing the best toys with the greatest value for your kids.  The Toy Professor is a small neighborhood operation and we cannot afford to fully absorb all shipping costs.  Thank you for your understanding.

  4. How do I return a toy?

    We want and expect our customers to be happy with the toys they receive and therefore we are happy to accept returns.   Following is our returns policy and procedures:
    Exchanges
    1. To be eligible for an exchange an item must be in resaleable condition.  There is no set time limit but we must still stock the item. As long as the item was still in stock 30 days or less before the return is received we will honor an exchange request.  If there is any doubt, send an e-mail inquiry to: customerservice@toyprofessor.com
    2. Upon receipt of goods we will issue a gift card equal to the value of the item via e-mail.
    3. Do not forget to include an e-mail address for us to issue the gift card. If possible include a copy of the packing slip or any document noting the order#.  If the order# is not available the item must still have a Toy Professor barcode label attached in to order to process the exchange.
    4. We also can accept exhanges in our store in Summit, NJ.
    Refunds
    1. To be eligible for a refund, returns must be received back by The Toy Professor within 30 days of purchase date and the item(s) must be in resaleable condition.
    2. Upon receipt of goods, we will issue a refund to the original credit card used for purchase.
    3. We will not issue a refund for shipping charges.  If the item(s) were sent with free shipping, applicable shipping charges will be deducted  from the refund amount. (See Shipping Rules for applicable shipping charges)
    4. After receiving the return we will send an e-mail to the e-mail address on the original order either confirming the refund has been processed or opening a dialogue if there is any issue with the return.
    5. Please either include a copy of the packing slip or any document noting the order#.  We must have this info to process a refund.  Also, please mark "Refund" on the document.  Otherwise we will process as an exchange and we will send a gift card e-mail to the original purchaser's e-mail on file.
    Defectives
    1. If you receive a damaged or defective item please send an e-mail to:customerservice@toyprofessor.com or phone (908) 918-1888 and we will try to remedy the situation.
    2. If we are unable to remedy the situation we will provide instructions for returning the item and at your option (once we have received the item), we will either ship a replacement free of charge and issue a gift card via e-mail equal to original shipping charges or issue a gift card via e-mail equal to the the original value plus double original shipping charges applied.  We regret that we can not offer refunds on defectives.
